- STANDARD TERMS & CONDITIONS
For the supply of ‘Knocknock’ platform (Platform) by KNOCKNOCK PTY LTD (ACN 665 990 376) (we/us/our).
These terms and conditions (Terms) govern your use of the Platform.
- Introduction
- Knocknock is a peer-to-peer marketplace enabling individuals to rent out their personal belongings to others.
- Our Role:
- We provide a digital space for item listings and rentals.
- We facilitate transactions but are not party to rental agreements between the owners and users, nor do we act as a broker or insure any goods.
- By using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms, our associated Privacy Policy, and any other policies provided by Knocknock (collectively referred to as the ‘Agreement’).
- Knocknock reserves the right to modify the Agreement at any time, notifying users via email or platform announcements. We recommend reviewing the Agreement before each use of the Platform.
- If you disagree with the Agreement, you must cease using the Platform immediately.
- Acceptance
- You accept the terms of the Agreement, if after receiving it, you:
- communicate your acceptance by clicking “I accept”;
- create a Knocknock account; or
- use the Platform.
- You accept the terms of the Agreement, if after receiving it, you:
- Account Registration
- Use of the Platform requires you to be at least 18 years of age.
- Your use of the Platform requires you to register a Knocknock account with an email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining password confidentiality.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and you are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your account information.
- Knocknock may suspend or terminate accounts suspected of providing false or incomplete information.
- You will need to provide us with basic personal information for account registration. This may include the provision of your name, email, phone number, address and evidence that you meet the age requirements. Your personal information will be collected and used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- Identity verification is required to list or borrow good through the Platform.
- You agree to notify Knocknock of any changes to your identity information within five business days.
- Knocknock will use third-party services for identity verification.
- You acknowledge that unverified accounts cannot engage in transactions.
- We reserve our right to accept or reject account registration requests at our discretion.
- Your Behaviour on the Platform
- Respectful Interactions: You agree to engage with other Knocknock users in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner at all times. This includes communications during the rental process, as well as any public-facing interactions such as reviews or disputes.
- Honesty and Transparency: You must be honest and transparent in all your dealings on the Platform. This includes providing accurate information about yourself, the items you list, and the condition of those items. Misrepresentation or deception is strictly prohibited.
- Policy Compliance: You agree to abide by all Knocknock policies and guidelines. This encompasses rules around prohibited items, appropriate use of the platform, and any other published standards of conduct.
- Account Suspension: Knocknock reserves the right to suspend or terminate user accounts at our sole discretion. Grounds for account suspension include, but are not limited to:
- Violating these Terms or other Knocknock policies;
- Engaging in fraudulent, abusive, or illegal behaviour;
- Providing false or misleading information;
- Receiving an unacceptable number of negative reviews or complaints from other users;
- Any other conduct that Knocknock deems detrimental to the platform or its community;
- No Agency Relationship: By using Knocknock, you acknowledge and agree that we are not an agent or representative of any user. We are an independent platform provider facilitating peer-to-peer transactions, and we are not responsible for the actions or omissions of our users.
- Reporting Misconduct: If you encounter any user behaviour that you believe violates our policies or standards, we encourage you to report it to our Support team so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
- Listing Items
- Creating a Listing
- Individual Listings: A separate listing must be created for each good that you intend to rent out. For clarity, where an Owner has multiples of the same item, each item will require separate listing.
- Detailed Descriptions: When creating a listing for an item, you must provide a comprehensive and accurate description. This includes details about the item’s make, model, age, condition, and any notable features or issues. Give users a clear understanding of exactly what they can expect.
- High-Quality Photos: You must include clear, well-lit photographs that show the item from multiple angles. These photos should accurately represent the current state of the item, including any wear and tear or defects. Avoid using stock images or misleading photography.
- Reasonable Pricing: Set a rental price that reasonably reflects the market value and condition of the listed item. Knocknock provides pricing guidance, but the final rate is at your discretion as the owner.
- Usage Conditions: Specify any restrictions, requirements, or special conditions associated with renting the item. This could include things like pick-up/drop-off logistics, operating instructions, cleaning responsibilities, etc. Ensure users have full transparency.
- Owner Responsibilities
- Item Condition: You are responsible for ensuring that all items listed on Knocknock are safe, functional, and in good working order. Do not list anything that could pose a hazard or risk to a renter.
- Availability Updates: If an item becomes unavailable for rental at any point, you must promptly update the listing to reflect the change. Failure to do so could result in issues for renters and ultimately affect your rating on the Platform.
- Legal Compliance: As the item owner, you must comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and other legal requirements related to the item and its rental. This includes possessing any necessary licenses or permits.
- Prohibited Items
- Knocknock prohibits the listing of certain categories of items, including but not limited to:
- Illegal goods or substances;
- Weapons, firearms, or explosives;
- Recalled, counterfeit, or stolen items;
- Items that infringe on intellectual property rights;
- Hazardous or flammable materials;
- Medical use items;
- Items that infringe on privacy – surveillance materials;
- Live animals;
- High value or irreplaceable items;
- Stolen goods;
- Items subject to licences or permits;
- Vehicles – unregistered or unroadworthy or heavy machinery that requires special training or licensing to operate;
- Sensitive or restricted documents – passports etc;
- Services instead of goods;
- Items that violate public morality e.g. adult material, hate symbols or offensive material;
- Listings that violate these prohibited item rules are subject to immediate removal, and the associated account may face suspension or termination.;
- and any other items as stipulated by Knocknock from time to time.
- Knocknock prohibits the listing of certain categories of items, including but not limited to:
- Charges and payment
- Third Party Handling
- Knocknock uses a licensed third party (Monoova – https://www.monoova.com/) to receive and manage all financial transactions relating to your use of the Platform.
- Deposit
Setting Deposits
- As an item owner, you have the option to require a security deposit from renters. This deposit acts as collateral to cover any potential damages or losses during the rental period.
- The deposit amount should be reasonable and proportional to the value of the rented item. Knocknock does not set specific deposit guidelines, as this is at your discretion as the owner.
Deposit Handling
- Any security deposits collected will be held by Knocknock in a separate escrow account maintained by Monoova. This ensures the funds are secure and accessible for resolution of rental disputes.
- Knocknock is not responsible for determining the appropriate deposit amount for a given item. As the owner, you are solely responsible for setting a deposit that adequately protects your interests.
Deposit Resolution
- At the conclusion of a successful rental, you as the owner will initiate the return of the renter’s security deposit.
- In the event of a dispute over the deposit, Knocknock may facilitate the dispute process to help resolve the issue between the parties.
- During the dispute resolution process, we may request documentation or evidence from both parties to assess the condition of the rented item and validity of any damage claims.
- Where Knocknock is unable to assist further in resolving a dispute, it will notify the parties accordingly.
- Fees and Payment
- Knocknock charges a service fee for each successful rental transaction facilitated through the Platform. These fees help cover the costs of operating and maintaining the Knocknock marketplace.
- All financial transactions between owners and renters must be processed exclusively through Knocknock’s secure payment system (through Monoova). No external or direct payments are permitted.
- Users are responsible for determining, reporting, and paying any applicable taxes related to their rental activities on Knocknock.
- GST
Unless otherwise expressly stated, all amounts under this Agreement are exclusive of GST. If GST is imposed on any supply made under or in accordance with this engagement and GST has not been accounted for in determining the consideration payable for the supply, then we may recover from you an amount on account of GST.
- Limitation of liability and indemnity

- Knocknock shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- Your use of or inability to use the Knocknock platform
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the Knocknock platform
- Any content obtained from the Knocknock platform
- Illegal activities or violations of this User Agreement by you or any third party
- Unauthorized access, use or alteration of your account or user content
- In no event shall Knocknock’s total liability to you for all damages, losses, and causes of action exceed the cost of the rental of the good(s).
- Knocknock shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill or other intangible losses, resulting from:
- No Guarantees
- Knocknock does not guarantee that the platform will always be safe, secure or error-free, nor do we guarantee the quality, safety, or legality of any items listed by users.
- Knocknock makes no representations or warranties about the suitability, reliability, availability, timeliness, or accuracy of the Knocknock services or any content contained on the platform.
- Disclaimers
- The Knocknock services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- Knocknock disclaims any warranties or conditions of satisfactory quality, quiet enjoyment, or that the Knocknock platform will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- Assumption of Risk
- By using the Knocknock platform, you acknowledge and agree that there are risks associated with renting and leasing items from other users.
- You assume full responsibility for all risks, including but not limited to damage, theft, or injury, arising from your participation in the Knocknock marketplace.
- Release of Claims
- To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you hereby release and forever discharge Knocknock and its officers, employees, agents, and successors from any and all claims, demands, and damages of every kind and nature, known and unknown, arising out of or related to your use of the Knocknock platform and participation in rental transactions.
- Indemnity
- You agree to indemnify us and keep us indemnified against any loss (howsoever caused) that may be incurred by us arising from or in connection with any breach or default by you of this Agreement.
